a) What is tmnet streamyx?
tmnet streamyx is a high speed broadband Internet access which provides an "always on" connection with offered speeds from 384kbps up to 2.0mbps. The speed is on best effort basis.

b) What can I get from tmnet streamyx?

• Faster Internet surfing than the normal dial-up.
• Watch a smooth and good quality of video, movie or picture over the Internet
• Online gaming
• Intensive content download over the Internet.
• Unlimited Internet access (including calls charges) 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
• Cost savings – you only have to pay the monthly subscription charges and NO bills on call charges for Internet access.

c) What are the differences between tmnet streamyx (broadband) and the normal dial up service (narrowband)?

d) What are the basic requirements to use tmnet streamyx service?

• Telekom Malaysia direct fixed line customer (tmnet streamyx does not support CDMA, ISDN, keyphones, PABX and hunting lines)
• Personal Computer
  For Windows OS Computers:
  • Pentium 100 or equivalent processor
  • Windows 98 SE and above
  • 32 MB RAM
  • Network Interface card (NIC) - Please refer below picture
    To check for Network Interface Card (NIC) in your PC, you can either go to Control Panel or look at the ports on your computer. You can get the network card at any computer shops.

    

  • CD ROM Drive (for loading the modem software)
  • 10MB Hard Disk space.

  For Mac OS Computers:

  • Power PC Macintosh with system 7.6.1 or later
  • 32 Mb RAM
  • 10 Mb free hard disk capacity,
  • Ethernet port
  • Mac OS X version 10.1.2 above only
    
• Certified DSL modem (for without modem package) - Please refer below picture
  You can get this at any computer shops or the nearest Kedai Telekom.

  

• Internal wiring of telephone line (Please ensure that you have a phone socket (RJ11) near your computer. If there’s no socket near your computer, customers are required to do their own internal wiring). Please refer below picture.
  Note: TM Net is not responsible on setting up of networking for Local Area Network (LAN)

  

• For customers with parallel line, which is connected to the main line with tmnet streamyx service, please ensure additional microfilter/s is/are installed to avoid noise when making call. Please refer below picture.

  

e) How much do I pay for tmnet streamyx?

tmnet streamyx is charged on flat subscription fee per month depending on package the subscribed.

Notes:
i. Speed of the service is on best effort basis
ii. Service is subject to availability and technical testing
iii. One time service activation fee of RM75 will be charged upon service activation. Installation fee of RM50 will be made payable to TM Net’s registered contractor upon successful installation.
iv. Your 1st bill received will include a one time service activation fee of RM75, one-month subscription fee (from the date of service activation) and advance charges of monthly subscription fee.

f) What is the minimum subscription period for tmnet streamyx?
You have to subscribe to tmnet streamyx for a minimum of 12 months period.

g) How do I install tmnet streamyx?

i. Without modem package

If you subscribe to without modem package, tmnet streamyx Self Installation CD will be provided upon registration (subject to successful applications), which you can save RM50 for the installation fee. However, if you are unable to do the installation by yourself and require assistance from our contractor, RM50 will be chargeable.

ii. With modem package

If you opt for this package, the installation will be done by our contractor, which will contact you for the installation date. However, please be ensure that all the requirements are ready before the contractor come to your premise.

h) Can I change the package before installation?
NO. You are not allowed to change package before installation. Should you need to change the package, kindly cancel your application and reapply.

i) Can I change the service installation number before installation?
NO. You are not allowed to change the service installation number before installation. Should you need to change the service installation number, kindly cancel your application and reapply.

Important Note:
If you are unable to have the said items mentioned ready by the time our contractors come to your premise for installation (after the appointment date is set), your account will be ACTIVATED after seven (7) days of the appointment date and billing will start. Otherwise you may cancel the application and reapply in the future.
